Papers, 1748-1790.

This collection contains copies of papers including photostatic copies of letters, 1752-1789, from Franklin to his sister, Jane Franklin Mecom (1712-1794) as well as copies of miscellaneous Franklin letters, 1748-1778. There are also copies of the following: an essay by Franklin relating to heat and cold, 1757; the settlement of accounts between Franklin and David Hall (1714-1772) at the end of their printing partnership, 1766; and an inventory of Franklin's estate, 1790. Also included in the collection is a photostatic copy of the workbook of the printing firm, Franklin & Hall. This book records job printing done by Franklin and Hall between 1759 and 1766 in Philadelphia. The book also includes an alphabetized record of job printing done between 1782 and 1789.

David Hall was a Philadelphia printer and bookseller. He came to America in 1743, as a journeyman in Benjamin Franklin's shop.
